When Life is Heavy as an Entrepreneur
Kim opens up like never before about 3 things that she draws strength from when things are heavy and even when they're not.

Things feel heavy. It's not depression but it feels similar. Your mind feels a little foggy, a lot heavy and somewhat disconnected. You care but at the same time, you feel emotionless. Maybe I shouldn't say emotionless because stress and worry are emotions.
Spiritual warfare is so real and it's easy to go right back into the programming that we've known our whole life. Stress, snap at those around us, stop reaching out to friends. It's not because we don't want to, it's because we can't. The weight is so heavy.
I've struggled with mental health issues since the age of 15 or so I thought. When you're in a pressure cooker without a break you snap. You can only take so much.
Looking back I realize I wasn't the issue. I wasn't the problem child that people were led to believe. I was acting out because I wanted and needed something different.
I thought I had healed as the years went on and the painful memories grew further and further from my mind. Until I became a business owner...
We as entrepreneurs don't receive a paycheck each week, we get to create our income. But what happens when you create the content, do the live streams and the short videos, connect with people and no one buys. Leads aren't coming in let alone convert into a paid offer no matter how big or how small.
That same fear, worry and anxiety come right back, feeling all too familiar. You find yourself saying and thinking things like "If money starts coming in I can relax". Yes, money is important but we have to remember that's it's a resource...not THEE source.
I realized that the lack of consistent money triggers me from my childhood. We never had money. We never had food. At times we were homeless but I didn't realize that at the time because mom put a spin on it. The truth was we were squatters.
As an adult if the business revenue runs low or hits a tough season you may be doing what I did and correlate that to those childhood feelings of not having control. So what do we do? Grip tighter. But we're only cutting off our own Oxygen.
Something needs to change. Let me share how I started to break chains and you can too.
Recently, I started to shift my circle from money hungry coaches and mentors. The kind that tell you that you're mediocre if you're not hustling all the time. The kind that tell you if you're doing your own laundry or driving your kids to and from sports or activities that you're wasting your time and you should be paying someone else to do those tasks because your time should be spent in and on your business.
Since shifting, I've upset some people. They questioned my motives. They accused me of "not being serious about my business" because my focus is on God. They even contact my clients behind my back to offer them help and ideas.
None of that feels comfortable, right?
When you find the right circle it's not about feeling. It's about knowing your position and authority in Christ. I didn't truly know or understand that until the last year. That's probably why me talking about Christ so publicly appeared so drastic to onlookers.
In this particular article I've got 3 things that you can do to rest in the peace that God has promised you in His word. I'm not saying that the fear and worry will completely disappear after all you're human and the flesh wants to reign. It's about knowing what tools can support you as a Christian, family-focused entrepreneur.
The Sound Mind
This is a fantastic book written by Donny Karpinen. A 30 day journey to conquering fear and taking hold of your future.

The Sound Mind
With so much noise, distraction, and feelings of chaos in the world today, having your mind right is your superpower. This devotional will help you meditate daily on God's promises while reinforcing your identity and purpose. It's time to fill yourself with faith, conquer fear, and take hold of your future.
I met Donny at Ray Higdon's Faith Over Fear event in Florida and when I heard this guy on stage I froze, my eyes welled up with tears and as soon as I blinked the tears just rolled down my face.
He understood.
Not like a speaker trying to impact you from stage just for a WOW factor. This guy left his heart on the stage.
He told his story of mental health battles, depression and overcoming. It takes a certain kind of person to understand this level of battle, this level of trauma...they have to live it themselves in order to understand; and he did.
I found him in the hallway and thanked him for his honest, raw share from stage and proceeded to tell him how I had attempted to take my own life at 16 and lost my only sister and my mother to suicide.
He just hugged me and signed the book that I had purchased from his table.

I don't know if he will ever know the impact that he has had on me.
Brilliant Movement
The Brilliant Movement is the next piece of my puzzle to restore healing and joy and these are not listed in any particular order by the way.
I was in prayer one day because I was just feeling super frazzled. It's like I felt myself being called to change but I didn't know what it meant.
That same day my friend Ray Higdon had reached out and explained that The Holy Spirit had given permission to share a top secret project that he was working on and it would be a month or so before it was ready to launch. Once he told me what it was I got very excited and felt this was the shift that I had been feeling.
The Brilliant Movement is a movement led by Graham Cooke. Graham has been involved in ministry since 1974 and teaches the finished work of Jesus. He teaches in a way that draws people closer to God. It's not about religion.
It's about relationship.
Since joining and consuming Graham's teachings, I have changed. I seek God before allowing my old programming and patterns to control me.
I've invited God into my business so that I can co-create with Him.
Now, as a proud ambassador of the BrilliantPlus app where you can also consume content, teachings, meditations, courses and more that help you reconnect with God and seek Him first and always, I am able to offer you a free 5-day trial of the app.
Check it out and see if the content aligns with you and your beliefs. If not, you can cancel before the end of you 5th day and you won't be charged anything.
Highlands Church of the Cumberlands
Last and certainly not least...what has genuinely helped me understand the finished work, my position in Christ and the authority that His Word offers is my pastor, Jason Kerr from Highlands Church of the Cumberlands.
Pastor Jason teaches the word like I have never experienced and because of how God has called him, I have been radically changed.
I've had friends visit from Nicaragua and they came to church with me and instantly fell in love with the environment and the way Pastor Jason teaches. Now, they watch online every week and you can too! Who knows, if it's in your heart to joyfully give and fund the Highlands Ministry you can donate online too.
Either way, I'm telling you...if you watch his sermons you can't help but to fall madly in love with Jesus and want to share the Gospel!
Thank you Pastor Jason for the impact that you've had in my life and my family.
My Dad and my daughter both gave themselves to Christ at the Highlands. Dad was baptized in January and Adrianna just signed herself for the summer baptisms at the river.
God is SO good.
I know life might feel heavy today, I GET IT. Trust me.
I get it so much that sometimes I don't talk about it because people who think I am wildly successful and untouchable will see a very flawed, very different story but I know what Jesus did and that's worth speaking out for. He's worth it. You're worth it.

See you at virtual church Sunday?
I'm praying for you.
